Decent work deficits in the Global North: Louisiana crawfish processor pays for labor violations
After a U.S. Department of Labor investigation, Acadia Processors in Louisiana, USA, were forced to pay back wages they had been denying their workers. The investigation also raised several concerns about safety in the living facilities for workers who were in the country through a temporary work visa. The incident reminds us that labor abuses in the seafood industry are not some problem 'far away' from the world's major Global North markets, but can also happen domestically.
